When the unfortunate event of disaster occurs and the infrastructure of a community is devastated, Leading Edge Power steps in providing renewable power for essential equipment in IDP camps. 

Key areas of the camp can be kept lit at night (catering and toilets) and essential equipment, such as security cameras and WIFI connectivity, can continue to be powered.

Next week at the International Disaster Management Exhibition in London, 17-18 April, we'll be exhibiting the Leading Edge PowerBox™. 

Packed into a self-contained, pallet-sized box, the PowerBox is a hybrid wind-solar system that can be up and running in a couple of hours. Power for DC and AC equipment comes from the system’s on-board batteries, kept topped up by power from two 160W solar panels and one of our own British made wind turbines mounted on the box.  

This completely off-grid system doesn’t require fuel to keep it running, an important consideration as it soon becomes a scarce resource in disaster zones.

Customers include Team Rubicon where units will provide power for emergency shelters when hurricanes hit the British Virgin Islands.

At Leading Edge, we recognise that not all applications are the same, so we have designed the PowerBox to be as flexible as possible. Options include battery bank size, wind turbine type, inverter size, as well as whether remote monitoring is required. We also supply add-on modules that simply plug into the main hub to extend storage capacity or power production.
